Honoring Heroes MLK Day
Today students on the elementary campus gathered in the Intermediate class to watch a digital presentation on Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, and the American Civil Rights movement. We were all moved to learn that Early Elementary Teacher, Susan Fey, was a Freedom Rider. In her early twenties, Susan rode on a bus from her home in Chicago to Selma, Alabama to participate in the very march we showed footage of today. As Susan shared her experience it connected us all vividly and deeply to the courage, justice and love that is honored on Martin Luther King Day. "Almost always, the creative, dedicated minority has made the world better." Martin Luther King Jr.
