Denver Conference
I'm in Denver this weekend to honor Karen Acker, teacher, Charter School founder, and friend, at the Colorado League of Charter Schools Conference. I nominated Karen for the "Charter Friend Award". Out of many statewide nominees, Karen was chosen as a recipient this year along with a State Senator, Represenative, Denver School Principal and Board Member. Here's what the program says,"The history of the Charter Friends Awards is rich with notable figures. At each conference, a deserving individual is named the Charter Friend of the Year. This coveted award is given to those whose words and actions have been influential in the charter school movement in the state of Colorado." All that is very true about Karen. And here are some pics of her accepting her award and other Crestone Charter council members and friends who came to share this happy event with Karen and our school. Later tonight Finn and Jay will join me and we will begin a metro-weekend that includes the new art museum, a great cuban restaurant, and some serious shopping. Also of note is that Sunday is my birthday, and what a wonderful and mysterious process this past year has been from Chaco Canyon to this new walk and work in life. I mean this in the best of possible ways when i say...you just NEVER know. Love to all--k
