Ann's Flowing Dress

Our beautiful friend Ann O'Brien died this morning. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this winter. She would have turned 55 this month. Here is the message i got about her passing--
We were in Mexico this past week or so and went from the airport to the hospital to see Ann. She passed this morning while John dreamt of her riding in a truck in Mexico and flying off a bicycle in a flowing dress. John said everyone "tackled" her with love and concern. We will miss her but are happy for her. Love Francie.
As John's dream tells us, Ann is fine and Home, but my love and support flows out to all left behind and all that is touched in each of us through her passing. Posted by Picasa
Here is a link to an obituary her good friend Francie wrote online at EJ Fieldings Funeral Home.

How touching and precious to know someone only by her death, and the notes made thereof. I am happy for you Kathryn, that you were able to visit your dear friend this past winter. And I am sad at the earthly loss of such a friend. It always makes present friendships so much more potent to realize truly how little time we have. Thank YOU for being a dear friend, and consider my shoulder and arms a place for respite, or tears, or any unnameable hug need that should arise anytime.

love, Anrahyah

Ann was such a gentle teacher for me. We hosted an Art and Theatre camp in her backyard the first 3 summers i lived in abita. I always felt that experience was the deepest, healthiest most experimental work i did in education/learning. She also helped me in every dimension of the theatre work i did in abita, in visioning, fundraising, design, and ultimately letting go of expectation as an artist and really existing in the moment with the creative force. "You can do all you can do, but in the end you have to step back and let go. These things have a life of their own and it is your work to let that be how it wants." She was talking to me about the MayPlay, but it applied to so many relationships of beauty and mystery. Especially poignant now at her death. I'm very disappointed that she won't be here to share with us this challenging and amazing time of change on the planet. But her life had it's own trajectory and her soul knew what she needed in this life and i will trust that she's already finding new ways to help us and her self grow and learn. thanks anrahyah, for sharing and loving. It's so important to me that the old and new in all ways are bridged within me. You are so helpful and courageous in this.

I was sorry to hear of the passing of your friend. Aliyah mentioned this and it was sad. It felt closer to home knowing she was 55—I turn 51 in a week. Too young to go, I think. But it sounds like she was well loved. I also know that strong sense you have of trusting the soul's journey. Still, it's hard to lose someone you love.
