High-mountain hike

A sign at the start of the trailhead noted that the Boreal toad was endangered and had been disappearing above 8,000 feet and to please report sitings to the forest service--on a short hike around the marshy lake a little toad hopped right out in front of me and i was able to photo it. I'm not sure if this is a Boreal toad, but we'll report our siting after the weekend. Dark woods, snowmelt streams, knot holes, drift wood forms, all covered with moss pelt and wildflowers offered deep enchantment at Haretenstein Lake.
