Kingsley House
On Tuesday morning we went to Kingsley House which is a community center in the Lower Garden District of New Olreans. There we met our facilitators for the day, Adrian Todd and Phyllis Cassidy. Adrian helped us into service projects in the Senior Center, and Preschool classes. Phyllis took us to Achee House, a community gallery of African-American artwork, where she shared some of her inspiration and insights about economic development in the post-katrina world. Here are pics of LINK students and teachers assembling tables for preschool classrooms, and LINK students doing exercises with some of the Seniors. No pics of the preschool kids, they needed specific media releases for these. But here's a word image...LINK student, Jack Ward, with clover leaves tucked behind his ears, doing Yoga stretches with a circle of 15 3 and 4 year olds. The kids, their teacher, and Jack were all having a GREAT time.
