4th of July Parade

It was a very funky, fun time in Crestone for 4th of July. The parade had a great flavor, with Libertarians, Neo-hippies, Japanese drummers and saloon dames as well as the local fire department who hosed down the crowds in the designated "wet zones" with a much needed cooling off water spray. The crowd was also part of the action as water balloons and water canons were all allowed in the wet zones. Later that night Dennis, our Satellite installer, played at a benefit dance for the VFD at the Silver Crest with his band "AghaDaza". Here's a picture of Dennis walking as color-guard in the parade, along with other faces from the day. Jay will post a link to all the parade pics here, soon.

I love Bay St. Louis. Never saw their 4th of July parade but imagine it was/is Dear. As this parade was coming down the street Finn said, "Yep. This reminds me of Abita." I think it is a sense of place that is conveyed through a town parade--and even tho crestone is a little different than BSL or AS, it has a strong sense of itself in the same way as those places.
