Dinner in LaJara

We went to see our good friends Lenore and Diana at their farm house in LaJara about 45 minutes from Crestone Sunday evening. Lenore's brother, Mike, was in from Florida and they had been fishing. Lenore had caught three really beautiful, large trout, 1 brown and 2 rainbow, up in the mountains by Summitville. They shared their bounty with us in a delicious, improvised meal. These women truly know how to entertain. Every time we've gone over they've put together the most amazing meals for us with little or no notice. Jay and Finn played pitch and catch in the yard with the each other and Betsy the hound dog and Heta the sheep dog. Lenore worked the grill and made strawberry shortcake. Diana prepped the fish and chicken, green peppers and salad. Cousin Trina and aunt Ramona both dropped in for visits in the working kitchen. Afterwards, we were treated to a "Colorado Bullfrog", a mixed drink with Kaluhua, cream, vodka and coke over ice. We always leave LaJara with full bellies and full hearts. Meals shared in friendship are the best, aren't they?
