A Southern Colorado Wedding

What a privilige and joy it was to attend a traditional Catholic wedding in the San Luis Valley community of Capulin. My friend Lenore had a job as wedding photographer and asked me to assist her that day with reception photos on my new digital camera. The bride and groom were obviously very special people, they drew together 2 distinct families, and friends and guests from all over the country including 2 professional musicians from Chicago and New York, and a terrifically celebrant and life-affirming priest from Canada. The reception following the ceremony reminded me very much of traditional South Louisiana weddings, with dancing, great regional food, champagne, and even a money-dance for the bride and groom. One uniquely wonderful difference was the mariachi band who played--FAB-U-LOUS. Here are some pics from the day. The bride and groom cut the cake, the mariachi family band, and Congressman John Salazar dances with the bride, his neice, during the money dance. These folks really know how to celebrate Life.
