Swimming at the Hooper Pool

Here's a link to the very wonderful hot springs pool we went to last night. Even though the water was warm for a summer afternoon, it was still refreshing. The little town of Hooper is about 20 minutes from us, and is also the home of a rock-climbing outfitter. At the pool area they also have greenhouses where they use the spring water to grow tomatoes and cucumbers. The "Tomato Cucumber Salad" is the pool specialty. But Jay and Finn also recommend the blue lemondade from the Parrot Ice machine! If you camp at the Great Sand Dunes a visit to the pool is a must. Not only is it heavenly to float in the water and gaze out at the mountain range, you also get entry for only $3 as a camper! WHADDA BARGAIN. I will be getting a month pass in September. I think the weather will be perfect for regular geo-thermal swimming by then!
